For primary load-bearing structural rails, 6005-T5 aluminum is widely chosen due to its high yield and tensile strength limits compared to standard 6063 configurations. It allows structural engineers to specify larger spans between support posts, reducing material costs. 6063-T6 is preferred for non-structural cladding, framing, accessories, and clamps due to its excellent surface finish, custom profile extrusion capacity, and corrosion mitigation performance.
For coastal or highly industrial environments (corrosivity class C5), a minimum anodization coating thickness of 20 to 25 microns (μm) is highly recommended. For moderate, inland rural installations (C3 Class), 10 to 15 microns is sufficient. Anodization converts the aluminum surface into a decorative, durable, and highly corrosion-resistant aluminum oxide layer that does not peel or flake.
Galvanic corrosion occurs when two electrochemically dissimilar metals make electrical contact in the presence of an electrolyte (moisture). We prevent this by providing specialized isolators, including non-conductive rubber gaskets, EPDM washers, or stainless steel fasteners with protective coatings. Additionally, hot-dip galvanizing the steel components isolates the electrochemical potential difference.
The typical production cycle for custom-designed brackets involves two phases: Tooling and Extrusion. Tooling fabrication and sample approval takes approximately 7 to 10 days. Mass extrusion and cutting/CNC operations require an additional 15 to 20 days, depending on the volume of the order and the complexity of post-processing like drilling, punching, and surface anodization.
